Sundance Digital Signal Processing has released two new software defined radio (SDR) platforms.

Sundance Digital Signal Processing has released two new software defined radio (SDR) platforms Both the SMT8036 and SMT8036E deliver integrated solutions for capturing and outputting I and Q signals, and can be used for rapid prototyping of SDR applications

Each is supported across multiple architectures, including PCI, cPCI and VME, in addition to a stand-alone format for embedded applications.

"These platforms provide OEMs with flexible and scalable hardware and software tools for developing software radios", Sundance CEO and President Dr Nory Nakhaee said.

"They are built on the success of Sundance data acquisition and processing modules that offer flexibility, performance and functionality necessary for OEMs to design their own systems".

The SMT8036 and SMT8036E are powered by the Texas Instruments TMSC6416 1GHz DSP and the Xilinx XC2V1000, XC2V2000 or XC2V6000 Virtex II FPGAs, which are user programmable for custom algorithms.

Signal acquisition is facilitated by two channel digitisers each operating at up to 105MHz sampling rate.

Dual-channel D/As provide 400Msample/s interpolated output each.

"TI's 1GHz DSP is a powerful vehicle for any DSP application, and it offers developers a particularly robust and flexible solution when programmed for the Sundance SDR platforms", said Texas Instruments TMS320C64x DSP Marketing Manager Thomas Brooks.

To promote further research in the field of software radio, Texas Instruments and Sundance are offering SDR developer kits to all universities in the USA and Canada.
