Virtio Corp has expanded the distribution of its products to the UK through an agreement with SDC Systems.

Virtio Corp, the creator of virtual platforms for embedded software development, has expanded the distribution of its products to the UK through an agreement with SDC Systems.

SDC Systems provides embedded development tools and services to telecommunications, aerospace, industrial and automotive systems engineers in the UK.

Under the terms of the agreement, SDC Systems will provide local customer support for UK customers and work closely with Virtio to increase sales of Virtio Virtual Platforms.

Shay Ben-Chorin, President and CEO for Virtio, stated: "SDC is an excellent partner for building the European market for Virtio".

"Our alliance is very synergistic given SDC's tenure in the embedded systems market and its strong product lines".

"Together we offer embedded developers the products and support needed to maintain an edge on productivity and ultimately get to market quicker".

"Virtio Virtual Platforms offer unique and highly flexible environments for embedded system integration and they represent a strategic addition to our product portfolio", said Stuart Parker, Managing Director of SDC Systems.

"Virtio's approach of developing software on software is a major advance from traditional methods".

"Virtio's products give our customers a great advantage in the product development race".

Virtio Virtual Platforms support a wide range of processor technologies including TI OMAP, ARM7 and 9, Intel XScale, Motorola i.MX and MIPS and a variety of operating systems, including Linux, Microsoft Windows CE, Palm OS and Symbian OS, as well as most leading tool chains including: ARM RealView, Metrowerks CodeWarrior; Microsoft's eMbedded Visual Tools for application development, and Platform Builder for kernel development.

Virtual Platforms offer significant software development benefits, including: fast turnaround times to test new flash images; superior control and visibility to speed operating system porting; and high performance required to boot operating systems and run applications.

Virtio Virtual Platforms improve the software developers' productivity by enabling early software development and hardware/software integration well before hardware prototypes are available.
