Embedded and real-time Linux come to Europe

SDC Systems has signed an agreement with US Linux developer FSM Labs enabling SDC to sell and support a range of embedded and real-time Linux technologies.

European embedded technology distributor SDC Systems has signed an agreement with US Linux developer FSM Labs enabling SDC to sell and support a range of embedded and real-time Linux technologies.

FSM Labs is a world leader in the development of embedded and real-time Linux solutions.

They provide a broad range of Linux based products that have been proven in projects across around the world.

FSMLabs' RTLinuxPro is a tested and validated hard-real-time Posix operating system that runs embedded Linux as an application platform.

The RTCore real-time kernel at the heart of RTLinuxPro provides deterministic, low microsecond worst case interrupt latency and scheduling jitter plus seamless access to Linux.

"There are many advantages that Linux offers over traditional operating systems, such as the open source format and the availability of off-the-shelf applications".

"This has been the key to its success".

"However, in its standard form, Linux has not been ideal for real-time and embedded applications".

"In response to this, the engineers at FSM Lab's have been at the forefront of developing Linux solutions that are able to meet the needs of embedded and real-time developers", said Stuart Parker, Managing Director of SDC Systems.

FSMLab's broad Linux product range includes Carrier Grade Linux and a hard-real-time Posix RTCore kernel, RTCoreBSD, that runs BSD as an application (via FSM's two kernel technology).

There is also a broad range of network protocol stacks.

FSM Labs' customers include Juniper Networks, Karl Rentsch, Virginia Tech and animatronics experts The Jim Henson Company.
