Service offers expert support for IC design
A new expert CAD service offers flexible access to additional resources during critical phases of a design project and answers difficult questions as and when they inevitably arise.
All Sondrel's team have experience working on layouts using 90nm design rules.
Explains founder, Graham Curren: "We all come from the semiconductor and EDA industries, working at companies including Tality, Avant! and Jennic, and are bring that experience to bear on projects at major European companies".
He continues: "Whereas at 0.13-micron it was advisable to do on-chip variation analysis, with the 90nm designs that we are now being asked to complete it is essential.
Just to put it into perspective, at 90nm, if a chip is running at 400MHz with a clock period of 2.5ns and the OCV is +/-10%, which means that 40% of the clocking cycle may be lost due to OCV effects".
Sondrel's expansion is the direct result of the success the company has already had, which includes working on four European 90nm projects and on hierarchical designs with complexities in excess of 50 million transistors.
Concludes Curren: "Many customers like the fact that we will work on a fixed-price basis, and also that we are keen to advise at an early stage how to avoid an implementation that will result in a poor design with low yield".
