New from Sensor Products Inc is the Topaq pressure analysis system.

New from Sensor Products Inc is the Topaq pressure analysis system Used in conjunction with Pressurex/Fuji Prescale stress indicating films, Topaq provides a unique perspective of the distribution and actual magnitude (PSI) of pressure between any contacting or impacting surfaces

Pressurex/Fuji Prescale films instantaneously and permanently change colour in proportion to the amount of pressure applied to them.

Topaq is a Windows-based system that scans and interprets the exposed film and produces digitally enhanced images and statistical reports.

Topaq is essentially an instrument used in QC and R and D technology in electronic packaging.

Determining pressure distribution within a laminating press for multilayer printed circuit boards and revealing uneven pressure distribution across the nip of rollers on a dry film laminator are just some of the capabilities of Topaq.

The analysis system is also useful in detecting imperfections within the nips themselves.

When manufacturing hybrid circuits, the sensor film reveals inconsistencies in resistor thickness across large area substrates.

Uniformity problems are clearly revealed during thermocompression in the TAB process and designing heat sinks.

Additional uses include pressure determination during the stack insertion process in transducer manufacturing, core pressure in wound electrolytic capacitors, and the lamination process of ceramic capacitors.

Some of Topaq's features include histograms of pressure levels, enlargement and reduction capabilities, pseudocolour and 3D viewing modes and extensive smoothing, filtering and thresholding.

Surface contact area down to 3mil can be analysed.

Each image and its accompanying statistics can be saved, printed and exported for analysis in other software packages.

The system comprises a scanner, software, technical support and documentation, and is available for the approximate price of $12,900 US.
