New guide rails for Gigabit Interface Convertors (GBICs) that set new industry standards are now available in the UK from the fibre channel specialist, Selectronix.

Manufactured by Methode, these guide rails offer a number of enhancements over contemporary products including very low levels of electromagnetic interference (EMI).

This improved EMI performance is due to a special compliant gasket clip that ensures continuity in grounding the guide rail system to the bezel aperture even if there is a slight misalignment.

Another advantage is a unique torsion spring design that eliminates any possibility of the spring coming off when the EMI shield door is opened.

Other rail systems are known to have suffered from frequent spring disengagement problems.

This new guide rail system also features a revised latch-and-pin system that makes it much easier to align the rails over the PC board during assembly process thus greatly speeding the process.

These low EMI guide rails will be offered in three basic versions to accommodate different thickness of PC boards.

Part number DM7012-i is for 0.063-inch thick PC boards, DM7012-2 is for 0.093-inch thick PC boards while DM7012-3 is for 0.125-inch thick PC boards.

All comply with SFF 8053 rev.

5.2 specs, and can be vertically or right angle mounted.
