Dual port fibre channel GBIC
Fibre channel and SCSI specialist Selectronix has released what is claimed to be the world's first dual-port fibre optic Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC).
Applications include portable dataloggers, GPS receivers, portable POS terminals, and any equipment which needs to be periodically connected to a host PC for synchronisation or data download, or to peripherals such as a portable keyboard, barcode reader or dedicated modem.
The cable connector accepts outside diameters up to 5.4mm.
The male connector is drip-proof and has rubber packing for shock resistance and sealing.
The position of the polarising key can be changed to suit product requirements.
Power contacts are sequenced for first mate, last blank.
An excellent lifetime of 10,000 mating cycles makes durability another key attribute.
There are 16 signal contacts and dual 2.8A rated power contacts to allow battery charging.
The wide operating temperature range of -20 to +80C allows the BCL series to function in environments such as retail, utility meter reading, healthcare, law enforcement or other urban applications, as well as remote uses such as geographical datalogging.
The dielectric withstand voltage is 500V AC (RMS) for 1min, with 500Mohm insulation resistance.
