Quad channel pin driver claims speed
record
Off-the-shelf quad-pin electronics driver has the performance and differential signal capability required for testing next-generation high-speed memory devices such as DDR III.
Semtech Corp has announced the E7765, the first off-the-shelf quad-pin electronics driver with the performance and differential signal capability required for testing next-generation, high-speed memory devices such as DDR III The E7765 supports both single-ended and full differential drive mode

Linear FET controllers for space-saving PSU design
Semtech has a new family of linear FET controllers that enable simple, space-saving design of distributed single and dual power supplies on primary and peripheral circuit boards.
In differential drive mode, precise complementary signals are created from adjacent channels on the chip.
These signals are optimised to ensure less than 50ps of crossing point error for world-class timing accuracy.
The E7765 is capable of creating single-ended and differential signals with voltage swings as small as 100mV and up to 8V over a -2 to +7V common mode range.
Each of the independent drivers is capable of generating signals with datarates up to 1.3GHz/2.6Gbit/s, putting the device in the top tier of performance for off-the-shelf pin electronics ICs.
Programmable rise and fall time adjustment allows for the driver output waveforms of the E7765 to be optimised for perfect symmetry.
The extremely fast signal rise and fall times of this device allow it to sustain a wide data eye pattern in differential mode, enabling it to be used for at-speed testing of devices with high-speed differential inputs.
"The E7765 is the fastest quad channel pin driver on the market", said Tim Wilhelm, Director of Marketing for Semtech's Test and Measurement Division.
"Its rise and fall times are over twice as fast as any off-the-shelf high-speed pin driver available today, and its differential capability is unique in the realm of ATE pin drivers".
The E7765 is available immediately in production quantities and is priced at $46.84 each in 1000-piece lots.
The order code for the part is E7765AXFT.
Semtech offers comprehensive design assistance, including field- and factory-based support.
