Sequoia Technology is now supporting a new product, which combines GSM, GPS and Internet technologies to make them available for quick and easy introduction into applications such as vehicle tracking devices.

The Falcom A3D dual-band GSM/GPS hardware platform combines a 16bit CPU core, dual-band GSM engine, as well as optional 12 channel GPS receiver and Internet core to produce a versatile, integrated solution.

Suited to data, SMS, fax and voice systems, the A3D includes DOS-like system software, which enables designers to quickly develop individual applications using high level programming language.

Furthermore, debugging and location is possible via external access to the complete system bus and upgrades can be carried out remotely to reduce time and cost for field testing.

Sequoia's A3D also features 256Kbyte RAM and 1Mbyte Flash onboard memory, which together with an integrated MMC Flash card reader, allows extensive data logging.

Also included with the A3D are three external RS232, one RS485 and two audio interfaces, in addition to eight digital I/Os, which can also be used as six digital I/Os and two analogue inputs.

The A3D features a car voltage range power supply (8-36V DC) with integrated Li-ion backup battery (3.6V, 1200mAh), making it ideal for integration into any vehicle.

In addition, an intelligent power management coprocessor allows different applications to run under low power conditions, ensuring that the device remains operational for as long as possible.

External measurements are 168 x 61 x 32mm and weight is 220g or 238g with the optional GPS receiver.
