Starter kits aid wireless design

Sequoia Wireless is introducing its own starter kits and design packages aimed at engineers with differing degrees of GSM, GPRS and GPS experience.

Sequoia Wireless is introducing its own starter kits and design packages aimed at engineers with differing degrees of GSM, GPRS and GPS experience.

The new products - all with type approval - build on the Sequoia's in-house expertise and its industry-leading cellular/positioning technologies.

Sequoia Wireless starter kits aim to provide an introduction to GSM, GPRS or GPS.

All the kits come complete with all the accessories required to start a connection via a PC, and to develop the necessary software for modem applications.

There are three options focused on different applications.

The first of the kit series caters for designs where a wide input voltage range of 10.8-31.2V is required, while another is focused on portable applications over the same input voltage range.

Both kits are available in a choice of 900/1800 or 900/1900MHz dual-band frequencies.

The third introductory starter package, has a 5V input and is aimed at applications oriented towards voice messaging and SMS.

The GPRS kit series is intended for customers who require remote Internet access.

More experienced engineers will benefit from Sequoia designer kits enabling faster and simpler development of GSM, GPRS and GPS solutions.

Options include: dual-band GSM for large input voltages; voice/SMS designs with Li-ion battery management; GPS for small hand-held applications, for automatic vehicle location.

Both of the GPS kits are based on SiRFstar II chip sets.

A further two designer kits focus on tracking applications using combined GSM/GPS technology.

Sequoia Wireless will support these development tools with a series of training courses covering overall system-level issues and more detailed technical areas.

Customers can further leverage Sequoia's GSM, GPRS and GPS expertise through a full range of design-in, technical support and consultancy services.
