Sequoia Telecoms has a new agreement with Artiza Networks to bring its RNC simulator for UMTS to the UK and Europe, with full local sales and technical support.

"Artiza has an outstanding reputation in its home market for the quality and performance of its solutions", commented Tony Walker, Telecoms Director, Sequoia.

"Now, in partnership, we will leverage this technology to support the roll-out of 3G in Europe".

The agreement is part of a strategy by Artiza to expand beyond its strong Japanese customer base - a strategy which recently saw the inking of a deal with Siemens which selected Artiza's UMTS test solution.

The Artiza RNC (radio network controller) simulator (Iub) provides a user-friendly debug environment for equipment vendors and operators commissioning and maintaining IMT-2000 (UMTS) networks.

It simulates the RNC connection to Node B (BTS base transceiver station) on the IMT-2000 (UMTS) network.

The UMTS test solution has contributed significantly to the build-out of IMT-2000 infrastructure for 3G services in Japan.

This solution has already been used in major network companies such as NEC and NTT DoCoMo for test and evaluation in their base station.
