Sequoia has a monolithic quad relay device and compact packaging that requires no mounting slot or hole in the PCB, unlike alternative BGA solutions Very low electrical and magnetic coupling between individual channels also delivers the space-saving advantages of a single package with no trade-off in relay performance

The Coto B41 form-A planar relay from Sequoia integrates four independent reed relays into an area-efficient JEDEC-compliant BGA package.

As well as effective coaxial and magnetic shielding to minimise interactions between channels, the B41's construction technology also enables shorter RF paths to minimise signal attenuation.

In common B41 relays are also lead-free, which is important for long-term product approval as hazardous substances regulations come into force worldwide from 2006.

Major performance parameters are 3dB insertion loss higher than 8GHz, -40 dB adjacent closed interchannel RF crosstalk at 1 GHz test signal, and less than 16% magnetic interaction between channels.

Applications include mixed signal and IC testers, and other equipment where high package density and excellent RF performance are particularly important.
