A Singapore-based manufacturer of power and EMC components, Superworld opened a European sales office and design centre in Ireland during 2000 and has since established a network of European distributors.

The high-efficiency design of the new PCB-mounting DC/DC convertors, together with the use of surface-mount technology, ensures that they deliver both high reliability and long operating life.

Housed in industry-standard SIL packages, these competitively priced devices are pin-compatible with other manufacturers' products.

The single-output SME series is available with inputs of 5, 12, 15 or 24V DC and outputs of 5, 12 or 15V DC, providing efficiencies up to 72%.

The SME's 4-pin SIP has overall dimensions of 11.5 x 6.0 x 10.0mm.

The SMA series comes in both single and dual output versions, with input voltages of 5, 12, 15 or 24V DC and output voltages of 5, 9, 12 or 15V DC.

Housed in a 7-pin SIP measuring 19.5 x 6.0 x 10.0mm, the device achieves efficiencies as high as 79%.

Designed to meet EN60950 and UL1950 safety standards, the SME and SMA DC/DC convertors can be specified in either standard or high-isolation versions, offering peak voltage ratings of 1 or 3kV DC, respectively.

The devices have an operating temperature range of -40 to +85C and are fully encapsulated in a nonflammable plastic case, making them ideal for use in harsh environmental conditions.

Typical applications include motor control, industrial process controllers, portable test equipment, point-of-sale terminals and modems.
