A high turnout is expected with the addition of Dr Rahimi to the session.
He will be joining Dr Ronald C Lasky, PhD PE, Senior Technologist at Indium Corporation and a Visiting Professor at Dartmouth College.
Dr Lasky is a leader in the effort to establish WEEE/RoHS protocols for compliance worldwide.
Also presenting will be Karl Palmer, Chief of the Regulatory and Program Development Branch of the California Environmental Protection Agency's Department of Toxic Substances Control.
He will present the State of California's initiatives in these areas.
The current widespread problems faced by most multinational corporations today are a direct result of European Directive 2002/95/EC, also known as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances), combined with the WEEE Directive (Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment).
These initiatives were implemented to make recycling easier, cleaner and environmentally compliant.
Sea View Technologies of Exeter, New Hampshire has not only embraced this major change but has committed to helping customers and suppliers worldwide understand and interpret these directives and their requirements and develop overall environmental-compliance strategies of their own.
The RoHS Directive has created tremendous complexity throughout the electronics supply chain worldwide.
Manufacturers worldwide are expected to transition all of their parts to RoHS compliant versions, or face huge penalties as well as jeopardise their ability to sell their products internationally.
Specifically, RoHS bans the use of certain substances, such as lead and mercury, above designated concentration levels.
Due to Sea View's commitment to inspire unwavering confidence in the electronic components and services it supplies worldwide, the company has implemented strategies such as employee education, component testing, creating compliance officer and component manufacture experts in-house, hired compliance audits by outside experts, and implemented processes to prevent any cross-contamination between RoHS compliant and non RoHS compliant parts.
Sea View will also expand its comprehensive, environmentally compliant recycling services in order to meet the increasing demand of its customers.
But the knowledge the company has gained it will share with colleagues worldwide, and a high turnout is expected as many companies try to cope with this demanding initiative while the clock is ticking.
The seminar will include an overview of RoHS and WEEE, why they were enacted, a comparative study of worldwide and California developments, case studies, followed by a Q and A session.
