Interface Tech News has selected Sea View Technologies as a finalist in its special November issue highlighting companies that are changing the way business is done.

This selection was due in part to Sea View Technologies' dedication to the implementation of services in 2006 that have a large global impact, particularly in the realm of environmental issues that will affect each and every one of us in the future.

Sea View Technologies was among the first to recognise the huge problems faced by multinational corporations as a result of the European Directive 2002/95/EC, also known as RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) combined with the WEEE Directive (Waste of Electronic and Electrical Equipment).

These initiatives were implemented to make global recycling easier, cleaner, and environmentally compliant.

President Roland Brewer envisioned the opportunity to make a difference not only for the success and prosperity of Sea View and its partners, but also the future of our families and communities.

With the dedication to making our children's world a better place, this global challenge was met head on.

Sea View embraced these major global environmental initiatives in several ways.

For example, Sea View is currently hosting a series of increasingly popular and well attended, worldwide RoHS/WEEE seminars, the first in conjunction with International Enterprise Singapore (which was held in Singapore); the latest was held on 5th October 2006 in conjunction with the California Environmental Protection Agency in Santa Clara, California.

At these seminars, participants are shown how to cope with these demanding initiatives, including comparative studies worldwide, case studies, and Q and A sessions.

Sea View has also improved its own recycling programme (which has been ongoing as a service to customers for 10 years) by increasing capabilities and implementing a WEEE compliance programme, which will assist partners in complying with the electronic waste aspect of these initiatives.

Sea View is keeping in touch with domestic and international environmental regulatory organisations in order to stay on top of these ever-changing regulations.

Sea View's plan is to partner with those organisations to promote seminars and roundtable discussions for further education of the public.

Roland Brewer is currently co-authoring an article to be featured in SMT Magazine's December 2006 issue, outlining strategies that manufacturers should consider in dealing with these strict environmental regulations.
