Li-ion cells pack in more capacity
Saft has upgraded the performance of all three cell sizes in its MP series of prismatic rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
The cells, which feature a foam positive electrode, a nickel metal-hydride negative electrode and an alkaline electrolyte, combine super high capacity and quick and fast charge capability with an extended cycle life and improved storage ability.
The VH D 9500 cell has a nominal voltage of 1.2V and a typical capacity at C/5 of 9500mAh.
It was designed originally to fit professional video equipment and is also ideally suited for electric bicycles, scooters and wheelchairs, home appliances, gardening equipment, lighting and radio-controlled models.
The VH D 9500 can provide a continuous peak current of 50A at +20C as well as pulse currents up to 150A.
The standard charge is 900mA for 16h, but it can also be fast charged in 2-3h at up to 5000mA.
The VH F cell has a nominal voltage of 1.2V and a typical capacity at C/5 of 15000mAh.
It was designed to fit electric bicycles and hybrid vehicles and is also finding a number of other uses including gardening equipment, military electronics and professional video cameras.
The VH F can provide a continuous peak current of 50A at +20C as well as pulse currents up to 180A.
The standard charge is 1400mA for 16h.
It can also be quick charged in 3-4h at 5000mA.
The VH D and VH F are available as individual cells or can be supplied in a range of standard or custom designed battery packs, complete with electronic monitoring systems.
Saft's VH range of Ni-MH cells also includes AAA, AA, Cs and D HP sizes. Request a free brochure from Saft Rechargeable Battery Systems ...
