Ferrite toroids aid SMPS suppression
Steward has extended its range of ferrite products to include T-Series toroids in diameters ranging from 6 to 36mm.
Steward extended its range of ferrite products to include T-Series toroids in diameters ranging from 6 to 36mm The products will allow designers to implement inductive components for use in a range of applications, such as common-mode chokes in switched-mode power supplies (SMPSs)

Ferrite disks stick to suppression
Steward has a new range of ferrite disks and plates it claims will significantly simplify the elimination of radiated and inductively coupled electromagnetic interference.
Available in a range of three permeabilities - 5000, 7500 and 10,000 - these new medium- and large-sized products supplement Steward's existing range of miniature ferrite products for inductive and EMI filtering applications.
They allow the construction of inductive components with low losses and high performance, for use at frequencies from hundreds of kilohertz to several megahertz.
Most SMPSs switch at 300 to 600kHz, producing unwanted harmonic noise at up to 6.6MHz.
The new products are ideally suited for filtering applications in this frequency range.
The new products are available with a choice of conformal coatings: Parylene, for low friction and uniform thickness, even around corners and edges; and epoxy, to provide inherent toughness for the larger-sized cores.
This allows Steward to offer cores in a variety of hipot ratings, from 500 to 1500V RMS.
