Ferrite rod range offers designers flexibility
A new range of ferrite rods from Steward will allow designers to make wound components for a variety of radio frequency and EMI suppression applications
A new range of ferrite rods from Steward will allow designers to make wound components for a variety of radio frequency and EMI suppression applications.
Permeabilities ranging from 15 to 15,000, in NiZn and MnZn, mean that wound components can be optimised for the application.
Typical applications for the new M series rods include suppression for spark ignition coils and DC motors, RFID coils for passive keyless entry, antennas for remote controls and due to the custom capabilities automotive applications such as tyre pressure gauges.
Steward's rods can be produced in custom shapes and sizes, including the standard cylindrical shape as well as a custom bar with a rectangular cross section.
The rods can also incorporate features such as slotted or notched ends.
The M series is available in three standard ferrite materials Steward 55, 53 and 28 (250, 350 and 850 permeability respectively).
Although as Steward makes its own powders, any ferrite type can be provided.
Available in a large standard range of diameters, from 2mm to 20mm and lengths up to 42mm, the ferrite rods can also be supplied in, quickly tooled, non-standard lengths of up to 100mm.
