Rectifiers slim to charge into supplies

A Shindengen UK product story

Shindengen reckons its latest bridge rectifier is the thinnest device of its type currently available.

Shindengen reckons its new D1UBA80 bridge rectifier is the thinnest device of its type currently available.

Measuring just 1.35mm high, it is more than 1mm thinner than similarly rated bridge rectifiers.

The D1UBA80 is footprint-compatible with the industry-standard SOPA-4 SMT package, allowing the low-profile package to be adopted for an existing board layout.

The new device is rated to 800V reverse voltage and 1A continuous forward current.

Applications include rectification in telephone line interfaces for digital telephones, faxes or modems, where the thin package enables a low-profile solution.

It is also suitable for ADSL routers or as a low loss Category 5 LAN protector.

The D1UBA80 is also suitable for full-wave AC mains rectification in compact power supplies such as chargers for notebook PCs, PDAs or cellular phones.

The SOPA-4 surface mount package measures 4.4 x 5.3mm, combined with its 1.35mm height.

Pin-to-pin distance of 3.4mm allows end user equipment to meet UL1411, UL1492 and CSA C22.2 No1 standards for insulation distance, applicable to home electrical appliances.
