US based PCB assembler and EMS company Shafer Electronics has won the 2005 Governor's Award for Excellence in waste and pollution prevention.

On 15th February 2006 Shafer Electronics will receive a major award as a result of achieving significant reductions in lead associated with producing RoHS compliant electronic assemblies.

Shafer Electronics has been in full production of lead-free (RoHS) electronics for over one year.

Winning the Governor's Award for Excellence is a significant achievement, and acknowledges the lead-free process as a cost effective technology providing benefits to both the environment and economy.

Reducing and removing lead has immediate environmental benefits, and producing RoHS compliant electronics allows US electronics companies to export products to the EU meeting the RoHS directives.
