Shipley Europe's manufacturing plant at Coventry, UK, has been accredited to the ISO14001 environmental standard by the British Standards Institution (BSI).
Following ISO14001 accreditation of the Warrington site, Shipley focused on implementing the environmental management system (EMS) at the Coventry site to ensure all environmental issues were addressed.
Paul Bracegirdle, Environmental Officer, of Shipley said: "Attainment of ISO14001 demonstrates to customers, stakeholders, regulatory authorities and the general public the commitment Shipley has towards protecting the environment, directly from the activities undertaken at Coventry and indirectly through the monitoring of suppliers and use of Shipley products at customer sites".
The EMS has provided Shipley with a systematic approach towards addressing environmental issues associated with the business.
Bracegirdle explains: "A contributing factor in gaining the accreditation was the internal environmental training which staff attended during the implementation stage".
He continues: "ISO14001 is about commitment from all parties, from senior managers to shop floor operatives, and it was this commitment from functional managers, who made time available for employees to attend various training sessions, followed by the commitment from staff who implement these new systems and procedures.
All personnel at Shipley should be congratulated on this achievement".
