SiConnect has been elevated to the position of Promoter Member of CEPCA, the Consumer Electronics Powerline Communication Alliance.

In-home communications technology company SiConnect has been elevated to the position of Promoter Member of CEPCA, the Consumer Electronics Powerline Communication Alliance The company's new status enables it to directly participate in the creation of technical specifications enabling different powerline communication (PLC) systems to coexist

CEPCA's Promoter Membership comprises CEPCA founders Matsushita (Panasonic), Mitsubishi and Sony as well as Hitachi, Pioneer, Toshiba and Yamaha.

A long-time advocate of the need for an industry-wide PLC coexistence standard, SiConnect has played an active role in the organisation since originally joining as a Contributor Member.

In September 2006, Robert Stead, SiConnect's VP of Marketing was appointed as CEPCA's Promotion Working Group Chair.

"Since an interoperability standard for powerline communication is unlikely to appear for some time, the interest of powerline communication users mandates the development of a coexistence standard".

"CEPCA is unique among the PLC organisations in that it has in its membership four different PLC chip makers".

"This gives it a real advantage".

"We very much look forward to working with our fellow PLC promoters".
