Expansion brings 200 jobs to Northern Ireland

Schrader Electronics has significantly expanded its manufacturing operations with the opening of a new production facility in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland.

Schrader Electronics has significantly expanded its manufacturing operations with the opening of a new production facility in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, creating around 200 new jobs in automotive electronics.

This new 4350m2 factory will provide additional capacity to support the production of Schrader Electronics' Smart Valve RF tyre pressure monitoring system and its expanding range of automotive electronics products, currently designed and manufactured at the company's established facility in nearby Antrim.

The additional facility in Carrickfergus significantly strengthens Schrader Electronics' future capability to satisfy growing global market demand for electronic safety features for passenger vehicles over the coming years.

"Having firmly positioned ourselves as the market leader in tire pressure monitoring, this second factory allow us to meet increasing global orders for our systems by more than doubling our production area, and also provides additional facilities to progress other exciting new project developments", commented Stephen McClelland, Managing Director of Schrader Electronics.

Schrader Electronics' Smart Valve RF tyre pressure monitoring system allows drivers to remotely monitor their vehicle's tire pressures.

Electronic sensors attached to the tire valves transmit pressure data from each wheel to displays on the dashboard or rear-view mirror.

Tyre pressure monitoring (TPM) features increasingly in new car designs by automotive makers across the world.

TPM becomes a compulsory passenger safety feature on all new cars sold in the USA under the Tread Act.
