Piezo switches for the great outdoors

Normally open piezo switches are now available with an extended operating temperature range, making them suitable for outdoor applications.

Piezo switches from Schurter combine extremely long lifetimes with an operating surface that is sealed to prevent ingress of dust and fluids Normally open switches are now available with an extended operating temperature range from -40 to +85C

This means that the piezo switches can now also be used in outdoor applications where extreme temperatures and wide temperature fluctuations may occur.

The switches contain no moving parts, have robust metal housings made of anodised aluminium or stainless steel and are hermetically sealed.

The lifetime (better than 20 million switching cycles) is almost unlimited, as barely any material wear or mechanical fatigue arises.

The piezo switches are resistant to dirt, sand, dust and water, and they can neither freeze nor stick through contact with fluids.

Standard mounting diameters comprise 16, 19, 22, 24, 27 and 30mm, with alternative dimensions, materials, colours and shapes available for adapting the switches to specific design requirements.

Schurter also offers the piezo switch with point or ring illumination from a mounting diameter of 22mm, making them suitable for equipment designed for night time use.

The ring illumination may also be used for providing optical feedback or for displaying the switch position (on/off).

Numerous standard laser-generated lettering options are available, and customer-specific lettering and symbols can also be produced. Request a free brochure from Schurter Input Systems ...
