Amplifier IC upgrades Wi-Fi performance
High linearity Wi-Fi power amp optimises transmission of greater datarates over longer distances, allowing systems to support emerging wireless multimedia applications.
The D602 is a 6GHz divide-by-2 prescaler that delivers leading-edge performance in terms of phase noise and input sensitivity for phase locked loops and synthesisers typically found in 5GHz WLANs, satellite and interstate highway safety devices.
The new test solution is based on Giga's own bench integrated auto testing equipment to meet the specifications of high-frequency resolution and ultra low-current measurement.
The customised ATE uses the test program to control the instruments and handler.
It provides a highly reliable automatic test system with the lowest cost in mass production.
"We chose Giga for its RF expertise, and ability to produce a testing platform for our specific performance requirements", said Jim Derbyshire, chief executive officer, SiGe Semiconductor.
"The ATE has been instrumental in the success of our D602, enabling us to quickly, reliably and cost-effectively get volume quantities through testing and into customers' hands".
The rapid development in wireless chip design has extended the challenges of state-of-the-art technology and cost from the system designers to the testing house.
Now more than ever, testing partners like Giga are striving to handle unique products and advanced testing requirements.
"To overcome these challenges, we've moved beyond standard testing equipment to bring a customised solution that meets specific application requirements", said Gilbert Chang, vice president of technology development and production for Giga Solution.
"As a leading total solution provider, our expertise in RF and high-frequency products allows us to reduce testing cost and time to market".
