Amplifier IC upgrades Wi-Fi performance
High linearity Wi-Fi power amp optimises transmission of greater datarates over longer distances, allowing systems to support emerging wireless multimedia applications.
The CompactFlash Bluetooth card enables wireless data synchronisation and Internet access in any handheld PC or PDA, while the Bluetooth PC card brings voice connectivity to cordless headsets and mobile phones, as well as data connectivity to PDAs, laptops or handheld PCs.
"When developing our Class 1 Bluetooth products, we chose suppliers that could provide early access to innovative, high-performance devices", said Stephen Evans, Marketing Manager, Brain Boxes.
"We are very happy to have used SiGe Semiconductor's power amplifier, as it enabled us to meet the specified performance and transmission range".
Brain Boxes' PCMCIA card supports full Bluetooth 1.1 datarates over a range of 40m, as recently proven by tests of the device integrated in a laptop PC.
The PA2423MB contributes to this performance as the most efficient power amplifier on the market.
Able to deliver +22.5dBm output power with 45% power-added efficiency, the PA2423MB overcomes antenna and filter losses to ensure high data integrity over an extended transmission range.
The PA2423MB achieves this performance through the use of silicon germanium BiCMOS processes, which also enable high integration and low power consumption for extended battery life.
"We are delighted to be aligned with an industry leader like Brain Boxes", said Jerry Loraine, Vice President Wireless, SiGe Semiconductor.
"The fact that their PC and CompactFlash cards were among the first products to be qualified to the Bluetooth 1.1 specification is a testament to the high quality of our silicon germanium ICs, and our ability to quickly bring the device through sample to production volumes".
