SiGe Semiconductor also ended the year with a shipping milestone, with more than 30 million units sent to customers around the world.
A significant portion of these shipments were to SiGe's growing customer base in China, home to some of the leading manufacturers of consumer electronics including PCs and laptop computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), digital cameras, computer peripherals, access points and cellular phones.
"2004 was an exceptional year for SiGe Semiconductor, as we expanded our product line, captured significant market share in key wireless arenas, and expanded our operations as a global company with a greater emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region", said Jim Derbyshire, President and CEO, SiGe Semiconductor.
"Looking forward, we are focusing on R and D to develop new, innovative, solutions that will improve integration, performance and reliability of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and cellular handset applications".
SiGe Semiconductor's portfolio includes five product families with about 42 different products currently shipping to customers.
Among the most successful of SiGe's products are the series of RangeCharger power amplifiers and RF front-end modules for WLAN equipment.
The performance, power efficiency and integration of these devices have driven a huge demand for the products, allowing SiGe to capture about 45% of the total market for Wi-Fi power amplifiers.
The company also expanded its line of Bluetooth power amplifiers, and continued to win designs with its award winning GPS radio.
Over the next year, the company will expand these product lines with ICs that address the requirements of GSM/Edge, CDMA, cdma2000, W-CDMA and GPRS cellular services.
