SiGe Semiconductor is supplying the WiMAX transceiver for SunMAX customer premise equipment (CPE) from Sun Create Electronics.
SunMAX CPE includes indoor and outdoor units that provide OEMs with exceptional performance of wireless broadband voice, data and multimedia services.
SunMAX CPE is compliant to the IEEE802.16d specification for broadband wireless access.
The market is expected to reach three to four million units next year, driven by the growing demand for WiMAX as a last mile broadband access technology.
"The SiGe WiMAX transceiver was an ideal choice for the SunMAX CPE".
"They offer a complete reference design solution with exceptional performance that meets all of the specification requirements", said Cai De Lin, Vice President of Sun Create.
"Using SiGe's transceiver, we have developed the lowest cost and highest performance CPE available, effectively helping to reduce technical and financial risk for our customers".
SiGe Semiconductor's WIMAX transceiver chipset includes the SE7051L, SE7351L and SE7251L for 2.5 and 3.5GHz applications.
The WiMAX transceiver chipset provides the full transmit and receive paths, and requires minimal external components.
Featuring industry-leading performance with optimal gain control, low phase noise, and low noise figure, the chipset supports a large bandwidth and transmission range required for simultaneous broadband delivery of high-speed voice, data and video services.
"We are pleased with how the SunMAX CPE demonstrates the benefits of our transceiver - high performance, integration and flexibility", said Andrew Parolin, Director, Wireless Data Products, SiGe Semiconductor.
"Sun Create is among the leading providers of customer premise equipment to ODMs, and we are happy to work with them to ensure service providers are ready to capture market share and revenue growth during the 801.16d roll out".
The SunMAX CPE includes the SunMAX5800, SunMAX3500 and SunMAX2500, which comes with indoor and outdoor units.
The outdoor unit includes data processing, the modem, RF transceiver, management components, and a high-gain flat antenna.
The unit is small in size and lightweight, which is ideal for installation in space-constrained and aesthetically challenging environments.
The indoor unit, which is a simple power transformer unit, connects directly to outdoor units via a Cat5 Ethernet cable.
The SunMAX CPE will be available to OEMs in Q1 2007.
