1kV rad-hard power MOSFET saves satellite space
International Rectifier has introduced the world's first 1000V radiation-hardened power MOSFET.
The new 8ETU04, 16CTU04, 30CPU04 and 60EPU04 diodes have current ratings from 8 to 60A and are appropriate for 48V output switch-mode power supply systems.
Typical applications include datacomms and telecomms systems; and generally two to four FRED devices are used in each power supply.
The new diodes have fast recovery time, combined with a 'soft' recovery waveshape to reduce or eliminate the need for snubber components in the output circuit.
The low forward voltage drop reduces conduction losses, and low reverse recovery current reduces switching losses.
All features combine to significantly reduce power dissipation, operating temperature, physical size, weight and cost while increasing power supply efficiency and reliability.
The 400V devices are immediately available, and data sheets are posted on the International Rectifier website.
