Designed for 42V automotive systems, International Rectifier says its latest 75V HEXFETs combine up to 10% lower on-resistance than previous devices with some of the best performance on the market.

Designed for 42V automotive systems, International Rectifier reckons its latest 75V HEXFET power mosfets combine up to 10% lower on-resistance than previous devices with some of the best performance on the market The IRF3808, IRF3808S and IRF3808L for 42V automotive systems are available in the TO-220, D2Pak and TO-262 packages

In addition, the new mosfets are rated for repetitive avalanche up to 175C.

The IRF3808 in the TO-220 package meets the automotive Q101-qualification.

The 7mohm RDS(on) rating of the new devices translates directly into lower power loss, increased efficiency and lower heat dissipation.

The low 0.45C/W thermal resistance in the TO-220 package allows designers to remove the reduced heat generated from the device more effectively.

This keeps the temperature of the device down, reduces heatsink requirements and increases reliability.

The new mosfets are fully characterised for repetitive avalanche, where the avalanche energy (EAR) that the part can withstand is fully defined for a range of operating temperature, avalanche current and duty cycle conditions.

Applications for the new devices will include integrated starter alternators (ISA), electrical power steering (EPS) and other 42V designs requiring high efficiency and ruggedness.

International Rectifier is the one of the few companies that guarantees operation of its parts under repetitive avalanche conditions up to maximum junction temperature.
