Diodes save space and increase current ratings
International Rectifier has four new 60A schottky diodes in TO-220 packages.
International Rectifier has four new 60A schottky diodes in TO-220 packages.
The CTQ series devices carry 50 to 200% more current than the industry-best in the same package, hence saving space.
The 60A schottky diodes can replace devices in larger packages such as the TO-247 or D-61 or reduce the number of paralleled TO-220 devices to achieve the 60A rating.
When compared to industry-standard TO-247 60A schottky diodes, the latest IR devices save 75% in space and increase current density by a factor of four with a lower forward voltage (VF) for better efficiency.
Alternatively, designers can replace an industry-standard schottky packaged in TO-220 rated at 40A, the maximum current rating from other manufacturers, with the new IR schottky diodes to improve system efficiency up to 3.3%.
Design applications for the CTQ series include power supply output rectification stages and zero-down-time hot swap and N+1 ORing functions for 3.3 to 15V systems found in telecommunications equipment.
The new schottky diodes are available in 30, 45 and 100V ratings, with temperature ratings up to 175C.
