A new family of 15, 30, 45 and 100V high-current Schottky diodes from International Rectifier, reduces component count and increases power density.

Rated at 110A in surface mount and using thru-hole D-61 packages, the new CNQ series devices offer over 35% higher current carrying capability and more than 100% increase in current density over competing devices in SOT-227 or TO-247 type packages.

Increased power density and higher reliability are the primary driving factors which influence the design of high power switch mode power supplies (SMPS) for telecomms/datacomms systems, as well as servers, workstations and mainframes.

The new diode families can replace much larger SOT-227 packages that are usually required for such high power SMPS designs.

These devices are also suitable for ORing, (15V diodes for 5, 3.3 and 1.8V output convertors and 100V devices for 48V output convertors) in N+1 redundant power supply systems.

These Schottky diodes have an improved D-61 package with a thicker base plate and heavy-duty leads, which contribute to increased current handling capability.

Improved bonding techniques have lowered forward voltage drop (VF) by up to 20% compared with IR's previous generation devices, reducing conduction losses while improving thermal performance.
