In April 2002, SiPackets obtained the rights to API Networks' products, which at the time were exclusively licensed by its parent company Alliance Semiconductor.
API developed a family of HT-based devices that included HT-to-PCI bridges and switches, as well as HT intellectual property (IP) cores.
Notably, API's AP1011 was the industry's first device to bridge between the emerging HT bus and the legacy PCIbus and was selected by EDN Magazine as one of the Top 100 Hot Products for 2001.

SiPackets is marketing the AP1011 device as the SP1011.
The SP1011 interfaces the new generation of HT-based microprocessors and microcontrollers to legacy PCI-based peripherals and to emerging HT-based peripherals.
The SP1011 supports 64bit, 66MHz PCI operations and implements two bidirectional 8bit HT interfaces that provide 800Mbyte/s of bandwidth in each direction.
Up to 31 SP1011 devices can be daisychained to build higher capacity systems with multiple PCIbuses and HT-based peripherals.
A fairness algorithm allocates bandwidth among the devices, thereby eliminating starvation of bridges at the end of the chain.
The SP1011 breathes new life into systems that are encumbered by the performance limitations of traditional PCI fabrics.
The SP1011 expands the possibilities for system architects and designers by providing design options for bridging today's high-performance HT-based host processors and peripherals with legacy PCI-based subsystems.
It leverages the design know-how and the vast infrastructure installed around the PCIbus.
The SP1011 reduces the time to market, design complexity and system cost of PCI and HT-based systems.
SiPackets has successfully taken the SP1011 into volume production.
The SP1011 is backed by an extensive set of documentation and design guides to accelerate customer's design cycles and time to market.
"SiPackets is working very closely with its customers, the HT Consortium and its partners to drive acceptance of HT-based technology in the market.
One success in our efforts is the fact that the SP1011 already has a leadership position in the market with several design wins at tier-1 customers", said Robert Napaa, SiPackets' VP of marketing and business development.
"We continue to aggressively drive new design wins and to take a key role in promoting HT technology into the networking, storage and computer server markets".
