The LH28F256BN is a new 256Mbit high-speed Flash memory with an access time of 85ns (20ns in page mode) that achieves a fast data transfer rate of 80MHz in synchronous burst mode This enables it to cope easily with video playback in CIF format (352 x 288 pixel) at 30 images per second

In addition, the power consumption of the Flash memory is low at a supply voltage of just 1.8V.

Innovations such as these have, according to iSuppli, enabled Sharp Microelectronics to climb to the number-four slot among the world's biggest manufacturers of NOR Flash memory, ahead of Toshiba and Renesas Technology.

The company's portfolio currently boasts around 65 Flash memory models for an extremely wide variety of applications.
