CCD sensors boast sensitivities of 3200mV, reckoned to be the highest currently available on the market for security camera CCDs.

Two new CCD sensors from Sharp boast sensitivities of 3200mV, reckoned to be the highest currently available on the market for security camera CCDs Thanks to Sharp's proprietary micro-finishing technology, as used in sensors for higher resolution compact digital cameras, the collecting incident light ratio and photoelectric conversion efficiency has been significantly improved, resulting in sensitivity that is approximately 1.6x higher than previous models

In addition, the RJ2311CA0PB and RJ2321CA0PB CCDs capture higher quality images by reducing the smear ratio to a level of -130dB, minimising smear effects caused by intense light, such as headlights at night.

Furthermore, increasing the saturation voltage level to 1200mV ensures high image dynamics and also enhances contrast.

Thanks to their industry leading characteristics the new CCD sensors will enable security camera systems to render clear images even under poor light conditions.

This is essential for 24h surveillance of traffic, public spaces or the outsides of building requiring special protection.

Both sensors are based on a one-third-inch optical format.

The RJ2311CA0PB has a resolution of 270,000 pixel and provides NTSC output, whereas the RJ2321CA0PB delivers a Pal signal with a resolution of 320,000 pixel.

Samples of the new RJ2311CA0PB and RJ2321CA0PB are available immediately from Sharp sales offices and distribution partners in Europe.

Sharp also offers high-performance CCD peripheral ICs and system LSIs for signal processing, and has actively promoted the development of a wide variety of system solutions for higher-quality cameras.
