Following research in the industry into users' preferred methods of sourcing product data, Semikron has published a new edition of its product manual - on paper.
The adapter PCBs tailor the driver for optimised operation with a large number of different IGBT modules.
The efficiency and reliability of an inverter is closely related to the driver used.
The Skyper concept offers a versatile and expandable interface between the IGBT module and the controller.
Skyper's driver core is a half-bridge driver which, in addition to basic driver functions and electrical isolation, includes VCE monitoring, short pulse suppression, undervoltage monitoring and interlocking.
The driver core is limited to essential functions, which accounts for it having 30% fewer components than conventional solutions.
For electrical isolation, the proven concept of pulse transformers with bidirectional drive is applied.
In this way, driver and status signals between the primary and the secondary side can be exchanged and power can be transmitted to the secondary side.
This concept, and the focus on high-quality basic functions, provides a versatile and cost-effective alternative for drive manufacturers who may be considering building their own solution.
A premium-driver core featuring additional functions such as soft turn-off, temperature evaluation, error management and power supply monitoring will also be available.
Semikron adapter PCBs are also available for 62mm standard modules and Semikron's Semix family of half-bridge modules.
