Low-profile rectifiers offer easy integration

A new range of rectifier modules are billed as the first in the industry to offer a 17mm terminal height and screw connections.

Semikron has released a family of input rectifiers housed in its low-profile SEMiX package.

These are the first rectifier modules in the industry to offer a 17mm terminal height and screw connections.

The new modules are rated at up to 300A.

As they are housed in the same package style as Semikron's latest generation of IGBT modules, they can be combined with these modules very easily.

Thanks to their identical case heights, the IGBT modules and input bridge rectifier modules can be directly connected using busbars instead of wires, saving 15% volume in comparison to conventional rectifiers, reducing stray inductance and halving production time.

These modules open up new opportunities for creating flat and compact frequency inverter designs.

SEMiX rectifier modules in combination with SEMiX IGBT modules have been optimised for use in power drive applications (AC/DC drives: 15-110kW) and power supply systems.

All SEMiX input rectifiers are available in two topologies - "uncontrolled" (diode/diode) and "half-controlled" (diode/thyristor) - for currents up to 300A and off-state voltages up to 1800V.

They are supplied in SEMiX1 and SEMiX2 cases, or as three-phase bridge rectifiers in SEMiX13 cases.

The IGBT modules and input rectifiers are optimally adapted to one another in terms of power.

All topologies are available in the versatile SEMiX case with base plate and identical power terminals.

The new modules contain identical components to those used in other SEMiX products and are manufactured in proven production technologies, ensuring a high-quality product range.

SEMiX input rectifier modules use Semikron's Semicell glass-passivated thyristor and diode chips and have been developed in strict compliance with the provisions of the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive for lead-free products.
