PCB manufacturer Speedboard is trialling the latest fast-turn PCB prototyping technology in a collaborative venture with Kwikboard Technologies.

The new Kwikboard system has been installed at Speedboard's Windsor premises and is undergoing evaluation by a joint team of Speedboard engineers and customers.

Introduced to Speedboard's customers at a special open day, the innovative Kwikboard system permits a double-sided prototype PCB to be manufactured in just two to four hours.

In conjunction with Speedboard's existing fast turn assembly resources, a complete prototype board can be manufactured from CAD input, assembled, tested and returned to the customer within 24 hours.

Kwikboard's technology is environmentally friendly.

The dry process uses cured conductive polymers for interconnect while the self-contained equipment integrates the sophisticated micro etching, curing and drilling phases into a single, compact machine.

It completely eliminates photo tool time and costs.

The system can manufacture multilayer boards up to six layers and offers fine pitch 150-micron tracks with 100-micron gaps.

To maximise the experience gained during the evaluation period, Speedboard is offering all its customers the opportunity to experience the Kwikboard system for free on the first job.

"We are keen to gauge demand, get real feedback on the system capability and how it meets the fast turn expectations of our customers", says MD Richard Watson.

"For that information, we're happy to provide each customer's first job free.

It's just one more example of Speedboard embracing new technology and demonstrating our commitment to reducing lead-time and cost", he adds.
