Reinforcing its adaptability and broad appeal, Sonic AuthorScript enters a new market, powering fast, reliable DVD creation in Lucidiom's award-winning Automated Photo Machine (APM) kiosks.
The AuthorScript-enabled capabilities will allow APM users to easily preserve their photos on disc for safekeeping and quickly produce DVD photo slideshows that can be enjoyed on TV via a set-top DVD player.
Designed to be as easy to operate as an ATM, the Lucidiom APM is a self-serve photo kiosk that enables consumers to produce high-quality prints as well as a range of other photo products including enlargements, passport images, and scrapbooks.
Lucidiom APM kiosks are deployed in retail outlets and independent photofinishing stores worldwide and produce millions of prints each month.
"We are very excited to be working with Sonic Solutions to extend the functionality of our photo kiosks with features that present new revenue opportunities to our retail partners", said Steve Giordano Jr, president, Lucidiom.
"CD and DVD burning has become a must-have for consumers working with digital photos and as such is an ideal extension to the compelling range of easy-to-use capabilities offered in our APM kiosks".
Sonic AuthorScript is the industry standard for a broad range of developers requiring a quick and easy solution for integrating robust DVD and CD recording and playback capabilities into their products, including hardware and software applications, music download sites, consumer electronics devices, and products incorporating the next-generation high-definition DVD formats.
AuthorScript provides its users the assurance that their DVDs are of the highest quality and are compatible with virtually all of the world's more than one billion DVD players.
Sonic has also developed AuthorScript DVD on Demand to power the electronic sell-through of movies and television content.
The innovative technology was recently incorporated into the MCP-100 DVR with DVD recorder/player from Scientific Atlanta.
"We are extremely pleased that AuthorScript has once again been recognised for its efficient design and proven dependability", said Mark Ely, executive vice president of strategy, Sonic Solutions.
"Our agreement with Lucidiom represents a tremendous new opportunity for AuthorScript and demonstrates the versatility and flexibility of our technology, as well as the ubiquity of the optical disc as the world's choice for media management and enjoyment".
