Jeppesen has selected SMART's eFlashTools solution for its next generation database delivery program, Skybound II.

Jeppesen has selected SMART's eFlashTools solution for its next generation database delivery program, Skybound II.

Jeppesen, an industry leader in charting and navigational services, will introduce and offer Skybound II at the 50th anniversary EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI.

Skybound II is the latest addition to Jeppesen's portfolio of successful GPS navigational products and services for the general aviation marketplace.

SMART's eFlashTools solution set comprises both software and hardware tools, enabling OEMs to offer business-to-business and business-to-customer flash card programming services remotely via the Internet.

The Windows based programming application offers a user-friendly environment whereby users can erase, program, verify and read the contents of Flash memory cards (datacards).

eFlashTools, when coupled with SMART's PC-Card memory adapters and USB enabled reader/write product, enable users to program a variety of memory card form factors across a diverse base of computing platforms and operating systems.

eFlashTools leverages the Internet and existing OEM portals as a gateway to distribute software such as GPS database updates, creating a more efficient and satisfying user experience.

Skybound II now provides Jeppesen's customers with the necessary tools to easily download updated NavData files and reprogram their datacards at their convenience.

Skybound II offers one-step GPS updates via the Internet and is compatible with the latest Microsoft operating systems.

"We are incredibly happy with the results of our team effort with SMART", remarked Scott Reagan, Manager of NavData Programs for Jeppesen.

"SMART's eFlashTools product suite surpassed our requirements for Skybound II by not only providing a means of quickly incorporating Windows 2000 and XP support, but also immediately improving the user interface which makes Skybound II significantly more user friendly".

"Jeppesen's adoption of eFlashTools marks the completion of the first phase of a cooperative development program between SMART and Jeppesen", said Grady Lambert, Director of Engineering for SMART's Flash Memory Division.

"We are pleased that Jeppesen has chosen our product offering and design services to provide a total solution to its rapidly growing GPS Skybound II NavData subscriber base and look forward to our continued relationship".
