Fast memory modules squeeze into 1U
SMART Modular Technologies has announced the availability of unbuffered 200-pin double data rate small outline dual in-line memory modules (DDR SO-DIMMs).
The new small-form-factor 100-pin DIMMs measure 3.56in in length, versus standard 5.25in PC-based DDR unbuffered DIMMs, and are available in two heights: 1.0 and 1.2in.
These new modules are specifically designed for lower-end computing applications that use 32bit microcontrollers.
With the reduced dimensions and a x32 bus width configuration, these modules are ideal for 1U space-constrained applications such as network appliances, set top boxes, embedded computing applications and printers.
Available configurations include 8M x 32, 16M x 32, 32M x 32, 64M x 32 and 128M x 32bit in DDR clock speeds up to 167MHz.
These new 100-pin DDR small form factor DIMMs are part of JEDEC industry standard development efforts in which SMART actively participates.
"With DDR appearing to ramp up significantly this year, we are seeing a strong need to support industry efforts in creating a diverse selection of DDR DIMM module types that support specific OEM requirements", said Arthur Sainio, strategic marketing manager, SMART.
"The 100-pin x32 DDR DIMMs provide plug-in memory flexibility and suit an entire range of embedded computing applications".
