New from SMART Modular Technologies is a Bluetooth PMG connectivity module (CM).

Designed to address OEMs applications, SMART's new PMG-CM is a class 2 Bluetooth compliant device leveraging IXI-Sleek software packaged in a small footprint (13 x 20 x 3mm) ideal for enabling PMG communication capabilities in portable peripheral designs.

The PMG is the bridge between the mobile and the Personal Area Networks (PAN), combining cellular and short distance wireless with micro-router and micro-server functionalities.

It is the point of connection between the wireless network and the new category of affordable and best-of-breed mobile devices.

The PMG enables a new set of innovative, optimised Sleek devices (such as watches, pens, phones, messaging terminals, gaming devices, cameras) that deliver a superior wireless experience.

SMART's PMG-CM Bluetooth solution supports an external antenna.

The receiver will have sensitivity better than -82dBm (raw BER 0.1% with any compliant transmitter) and power output of +3dBm (typical) using an external antenna with 0dBi gain.

Signals for the PGM-CM available in the interface connector are pulse-code modulation (PCM), universal asynchronous receiver transmitter (UART) interface, power and Joint Test Action Group (JTAG).

Additionally, there are two general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pins available.
