SMART Modular Technologies now offers a 1Gbyte PC2700 registered DDR Value DIMM targeted to increase performance and lower costs for high-performance computing applications.

SMART Modular Technologies now offers a 1Gbyte PC2700 registered DDR Value DIMM targeted to increase performance and lower costs for high-performance computing applications SMART's 1Gbyte PC2700 Registered Value DIMM uses non-stacked 256Mbit mainstream DDR333 thin small outline package (TSOP) components to reduce costs, while maximising performance and module density

SMART's 1Gbyte PC2700 Registered Value DIMM features a data transfer rate of 2.7Gbyte/s, ideal for high-performance computing applications such as Linux/Unix clusters and enterprise class servers.

The 2in module height, targeted for non-height-constrained applications, allows for better thermal efficiency.

"A key benefit of SMART's 1Gbyte Registered Value DIMM has the ability to upgrade up to an 8Gbyte DIMM", said Arthur Sainio, SMART's Senior Product Marketing Manager.

"Higher density versions of this module utilise 512Mbit and 1Gbit TSOP components either in DDR266 or DDR333 speed grades".

As the higher density 512Mbit and 1Gbit DDR33 components move into the mainstream supply, the 2, 4 and 8Gbyte density options are expected to offer the same cost benefits as the 1Gbyte Registered Value DIMM.
