The Parani-SD is a Bluetooth serial adapter product line designed to replace RS232 serial cables with wireless connectivity.

The Parani-SD is a Bluetooth serial adapter product line designed to replace RS232 serial cables with wireless connectivity.

It incorporates advanced features such as a Bluetooth 1.2 protocol stack that includes adaptive frequency-hopping spread spectrum (AFH) software-free configuration support via an external DIP-switch, a pairing button for instant configuration of an automatic connection between two Parani-SD devices, and flexible power options.

It enables a serial device to communicate with another serial port adapter or other Bluetooth enabled devices such as mobile phones, handheld computers and laptops.

The Parani-SD product line has a 9-pin female DB-9 connector, uses a stub antenna, and supports the general access and serial port profiles.

The Parani-SD100 is a Class 1 type and Parani-SD200 is a Class 2 type adapters.

Both are Bluetooth 1.2 compliant devices.

Using the external DIP switch, serial port parameters can be easily configured without host computer.

In addition, the unit has a pairing button that facilitates instant configuration of an automatic connection between two Parani-SD devices without host computer.

Once the pair is established, communication between the two Parani-SD devices should be relatively seamless.

The Parani-SD has a strengthened battery pack case that can carry two AA type batteries.

This allows the Parani-SD to be used in situations where power is a problem.

In addition, the Parani-SD can be powered using a power adapter, DC power cable or USB power cable.

The Parani-SD series has the strength of a Bluetooth 1.2 protocol stack that includes adaptive frequency-hopping spread spectrum (AFH), which improves resistance to radio frequency interference by avoiding using crowded frequencies in the hopping sequence.

In addition, the Parani-SD series probes and connects to serial devices at a faster rate.

With no drivers required, the Parani-SD Bluetooth serial adapter is developed for long-range wireless serial communications.

Transmit range can be extended up to 1km when using the optional patch antenna.

Supporting data transfer speeds up to 230Kbit/s, the Parani-SD Bluetooth serial adapter is suitable for industrial applications that require data logging, wireless sensor control and monitoring in production facilities.

Also in medical applications, physicians with handheld devices are able to view and update medical databases and patient's charts instantly reducing redundant paper work, increasing efficiency and lowering hospital costs.

Other applications include retail POS, barcode scanners and credit card readers, restaurant order and receipt printers, security systems, petrol pumps, and outdoor sign boards.

Included in the package with the Parani-SD is a stub antenna, USB power cable, DC power cable, power adapter, battery pack case (for Parani-SD200) and a CD-ROM.

Further, a configuration utility is included, which allows custom configuration of settings such as serial port parameters, flow control, baud rate, connectable mode, discoverable mode and security.
