The new ISOmodem products use Silicon Laboratories' Si3008 line-side DAA, available in a small 8-pin package, in combination with a reduced pin-count package system-side device to provide a complete modem solution in a tiny footprint.
The flexibility and minimal external components required makes these devices ideal for embedded modem applications such as set-top boxes, electronic point-of-sale terminals, digital video recorders and digital televisions.
The ISOmodem products are full-featured embedded modems complete with a simple UART interface, integrated ROM, RAM, digital signal processor (DSP) and AT command support ranging in speeds from 2.4 to 56Kbit/s.
Compliant with FCC and additional country standards, ISOmodem solutions based on the Si3008 silicon DAA vastly simplify design and reduce the total solution cost for embedded modems.
"Silicon Laboratories is the leader in modem technology innovation", said Dave Bresemann, Vice President of Silicon Laboratories.
"By further decreasing the footprint of embedded modems, we are enabling customers to more easily add connectivity to their applications and bring their products to market more quickly, drastically simplifying their design".
The ISOmodem embedded modems minimise processor and software resources and decrease development efforts, enabling rapid and simple modem integration.
With more than 100 issued or pending patents related to this technology, Silicon Laboratories' modem solutions are field proven to meet global PTT, emissions, immunity and safety compliance with the industry's highest surge performance, lowest power dissipation and superior transformerless DAA technology.
Samples of the new Si3008 line-side device and reduced pin count system-side device are available now with full production in the second quarter of 2005.
Pricing for the ISOmodem product family begins at $6.48 in 10,000-unit quantities.
Silicon Laboratories' products are available in lead-free, environmentally friendly packages.
