Leveraging Silicon Laboratories' silicon DAA technology, the fax ISOmodem family reduces board space and external components by more than 50%, compared with discrete solutions.
Unlike memory-mapped controllerless modems, the fax ISOmodem embedded modems use an internal modem controller allowing for standard AT commands to control fax transactions.
This simplifies system design, reducing development resources and time to market.
The fax ISOmodems are full-featured embedded modems complete with an easy-to-use UART interface, integrated ROM, RAM and a digital signal processor (DSP).
Compliant with FCC, JATE, EU and numerous other PTT standards, Silicon Laboratories' fax ISOmodem technology enables global compliance and interoperability.
The Si2417 and Si2435 support fax rates up to 14.4 and 33.6Kbit/s, respectively.
"We are extending our market leading modem technology into the established fax market", said Dave Bresemann, Vice President of Silicon Laboratories.
"By offering the highest surge immunity, lowest power, excellent thermal reliability and global compatibility, we are eliminating many of the design headaches associated with integrating fax modems into multifunction printers and other equipment".
The ISOmodem embedded modems minimise processor and software resources and decrease development efforts, enabling rapid and simple modem integration.
With more than 100 issued or pending patents related to this technology, Silicon Laboratories' modem solutions are field proven to meet global PTT, emissions, immunity and safety compliance.
Samples of the new Si2417 and Si2435 fax ISOmodems are available now.
Silicon Laboratories' products are available in lead-free, environment-friendly packages.
