Unlike PA modules (PAM), which are composed of multiple die and numerous discretes, the Si4300 family uses a single die on a small substrate making it the industry's smallest GSM PA solution and the first functionally complete monolithic GSM PA.
Based on a patented amplifier architecture, the Si4300 integrates all functions between the transceiver and the antenna switch module (ASM) including complete power control circuitry, thermal and load mismatch protection, harmonic filtering and input and output matching networks.

Leveraging Silicon Laboratories' unique circuit designs, the Si4300 solution offers both overtemperature and overvoltage protection, improving handset lifetime.
The monolithic assembly, integration of all external PA functionality and conservative design approach also improves PA reliability.
"Historically, power amplifiers have had the highest failure rates in the cellular handset".
"We designed the Si4300 family to deliver dramatic improvements in PA reliability when compared to competing solutions", said Dan Rabinovitsj, Vice President of Silicon Laboratories.
"The Si4300T power amplifier provides all the advantages of a highly manufacturable, mature CMOS process technology and innovative circuit design to deliver an extremely small, highly reliable PA solution".
The Si4300T supports the widest range of input powers enabling compatibility with all transceivers.
The Si4300T supports GSM 900, DCS 1800 and PCS 1900.
It is GPRS Class 12 compatible and can be used in GPRS multislot applications.
The monolithic GSM PA solution is available in a small 3.9 x 6.4 x 1.3mm surface-mount package.
Samples of the Si4300T are available now, and volume production will begin in Q1 2006.
Pricing for the Si4300T starts at $1.95 in quantities of 10,000.
