DC motors and fans drive automotive cooling
Automotive cooling applications provide a fast growing opportunity for the application of DC motors and ventilation modules.
Until now, DC fans have been the only practical choice for providing high airflow and/or high air pressure - even in AC-powered equipment.
MagLev AC fans offer an alternative, enabling designers to take advantage of the performance of a MagLev fan with direct AC power feed.
In terms of motor efficiency and space saving, DC fans offer many advantages over AC devices.
However, traditional AC fans still account for about 10% of the current cooling market thanks to the power and space availabilities and cost.
From the viewpoint of fan efficiency, traditional AC fans are limited by their motor-wire wrapping process, resulting in motor hub larger than an equivalent DC device.
And with such huge windings, the impeller area is limited.
Therefore, AC fans cannot compete with DC alternatives on airflow and air pressure.
Moreover, the sheer bulk of AC products prevents equipment miniaturisation.
Also, because of the traditional motor-wire wrapping process, the yield of AC fans cannot easily be increased, and the noise level and power consumption fall well short of environmental friendliness.
In addition, traditional AC fans cannot provide fan speed output signals to warn of abnormal running.
What?s more, such AC fans can only be used where the ambient temperature is less then 70C.
Sunon's MagLev AC fan addresses all these limitations, with power consumption is reduced to about one-third that of a conventional AC fan.
Sunon offers MagLev AC fan with sizes ranging from 70 to 90mmm.
With double the airflow and half the power consumption, Sunon's MagLev AC fans are also as little as one-third the weight of traditional ones.
This series of products can work in environments as hot as 70C or more.
Monitoring or detection of rotational speed is available, and a thermal cutout extends the service life of the product.
With the ultimate silence, heat resistance and lifespan inherited from the MagLev motor fan, the compact and efficient MagLev AC motor fan is an ideal solution for AC fan applications. Request a free brochure from Sunon ...
