Cameras provide top-end image quality
Sony has extended its range of FCB colour block video cameras with new Series B units.
Sony has extended its range of FCB colour block video cameras with new Series B units.
The FCB EX Series B provides higher picture quality and operability, delivering industry-leading low-light sensitivity with image stabilisation, privacy zone masking and zoom functions built into an ultracompact and lightweight unit.
The EX cameras are aimed at OEMs in security dome and surveillance applications.
The FCB-EX Series B has inherited the proven features of Sony's conventional block cameras, added to newly developed DSP and firmware that significantly enhances operability and picture quality.
Functional improvements and new features were specifically incorporated to improve performance in security/surveillance monitoring applications.
The privacy zone masking feature in the FCB-EX Series B has been significantly improved and now has the ability to preset 24 positions for pan and tilt (eight simultaneously displayed on the screen), and 28 colours (two simultaneously).
Privacy zones may also be locked to pan, tilt and zoom movements of the camera.
The new e-flip function electronically inverts images to maintain continuous tracking of objects that pass underneath the camera.
Other security monitoring functionality includes day/night command output capability, picture freeze, auto ICR and motion detection operations.
The FCB-EX Series B units excel in night-vision environments through the use of EXview HAD technology, enabling an industry-leading sensitivity level of 0.7lux for low-light environments, in addition to a zoom ratio up to 300x (25x optical, 12x digital).
EXview HAD also allows improved IR sensitivity while reducing smear levels compared to previous FCB models.
Sony product manager for Image Sensing Solutions, Julien Dalle explains, "The range of best-in-class functionality and technology of the new FCB cameras will enable manufacturers to produce superior low cost vision solutions in particularly demanding environments such as night vision systems.
The cameras are easy to integrate and can be customised to fit almost every visual security application and offer new opportunities to system integrators through their combination of compactness, features and low price".
The new Series B units also include high-speed interfacing (up to 38.4Kbit/s) and TTL signal level control (VISCA control) for quick command processing, high-quality imaging in both digital-zoom and slow-shutter modes.
All the FCB Series cameras feature low power consumption (minimum 1.5W), various AF modes including the new zoom trigger and interval mode, a wide range of customisable settings, expanded mode parameter for shutter speed and gain level, and a batteryless EEPROM backup system.
In addition the cameras have lead-free solder and halogen-free mounting boards.
Sony's newest FCB EX Series B colour block video camera models include the FCB-EX780B/BP, FCB-EX78B/BP, FCB-EX480B/BP and FCB-EX48B/BP and are widely available now.
