The FCB-S3000P colour block camera is the first FCB block to incorporate three-CCD technology for superb picture quality and an integrated zoom lens.

The FCB-S3000P colour block camera is the first FCB block to incorporate three-CCD technology for superb picture quality and an integrated zoom lens It offers a 16:9 aspect ratio that provides a truly wider viewing angle compared to conventional cameras aimed at OEMs, system integrators and value added resellers

The camera opens up a new platform for "mid-range broadcast cameras", offering an optimum price/performance blend.

Responding to the growing demands of 16:9 applications, the camera supplies a very high performance standard, and is equipped with a variety of convenient functions such as a high speed serial interface, RS232C/TTL remote control, 12x optical zoom and slow shutter.

The FCB-S3000P's high picture quality and feature rich functions make it ideal for demanding applications such remote monitoring with plasma display, high end video surveillance (casino, long distance monitoring), broadcast, high quality videoconferencing, digital photography, document stand and industrial applications where 16:9 modes are increasingly demanded.

With a three-chip megapixel camera system derived from three, 1/4.7-type advanced HAD CCD sensors each with a total of 1,070,000 pixels, the camera provides precise colour reproduction and high resolution.

The use of advanced HAD technology contributes to low noise, even in low light shooting environments and with dark subjects.

A high horizontal resolution of 530 TV lines is attained, and an excellent 16:9 picture can be captured without vertical resolution deterioration using the camera's ability to fit the width of the 16:9 effective pixel area to the fullest possible.

For versatility, the FCB-S3000P is switchable between 16:9 and 4:3 modes, and features a 48x zoom ratio comprising 12x optical and 4x digital.

A signal to noise ratio of more than 50dB is returned and the camera requires a minimum illumination of 15lux.

A range of video outputs is provided comprising analogue composite, Y/C or R/G/B/sync.

Sized at 72 x 67 x 105.5mm, the FCB-S3000P weighs just 350g.

The camera has a freeze function, on-screen display, various AF modes including zoom trigger and interval modes.

Additionally various customisable settings are possible for versatility in a wide range of applications.

An EEPROM backup system without battery ensures reliability, and the camera consumes just 5.3W with motors inactive, and 6.3W when active.

The FCB-S3000P from Sony is a market driven product that meets the "up-to-the-moment" needs of users and operators.

Often the requirement is for a high quality camera that has perfect image quality and does not have unuseful or an excessive amount of irrelevant features.

Neatly fitting that slot is the cost effective FCB-S3000P.

The FCB-S3000P's block unit is taken from the industry renowned professional Sony camcorders, enabling integrators to take full advantage of all the knowledge Sony has in three-CCD technology.

Manufactured using lead-free solder and halogen-free mounting boards, FCB-S3000P from Sony is available from November 2003.

The FCB-S3000, NTSC version, will be made available at the same time.
